Colossians 3 2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above the higher things not on the things that are on the earth
Encouragement in the word -1
1.Verse: Colossians 3:2
And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
- The focus of our lives is very important.
- Our desires and longings must be for greater things.
- We pursue what our hearts long for.
- This calls for a decision – what will our focus be?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help me to be heavenly minded and not consumed by earthly things. Help me to see things from Your perspective. Amen.
2. Verse: John 15:16
You didn’t choose me! I chose you! I appointed you to go and produce fruit.
- God has chosen each one of us.
- God has a purpose and a plan for your life.
- The plan is that you should be fruitful and productive.
- With God in our lives this is a possibility!
CHALLENGE: Remember, God has chosen you!
3. Verse: Ephesians 5:17
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to.
- God wants us to live in dependence on Him.
- Many people live reactive lives.
- They react to circumstances and situations.
- God is calling us to live at a different level!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray that You will help me today, not to react to the things I will face, but rather to depend on You and do what You would have me do! Amen.
4. Verse: Acts 13:22
I have found David a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.
- God is looking for those who will obey Him.
- David was a man who obeyed God.
- As a result God said he was a man after His own heart.
- It pleases God when we do what He tells us to do.
CHALLENGE: Do not hesitate – DO what God tells you to do!
5. Verse: Psalm 144:1
The Lord is MY immovable Rock. He gives ME strength!
- Most things in life are not SURE things!
- That is why we need a sure foundation.
- If we have a good foundation we will be strong.
- Make God your foundation and be strong!
DECLARATION: God is my rock – I will not be moved and HE will strengthen me!
6.Verse: Psalm 34:1
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
- Your attitude determines your altitude!
- We should bless the Lord at all times and on all occasions.
- It may not always feel like the right thing to do.
- But it will be rewarded!
CHALLENGE: Take a moment and praise the Lord. Tell Him how you trust Him and praise His name!
